Fire Cider - DIY Remedies for Cold and Flu

Fire Cider

For Cold and Flu

Fire cider is a traditional naturopathic remedy for colds and flu, made from a blend of vinegar, honey, and various spicy and medicinal ingredients. It is believed to boost the immune system, increase circulation, and support the body in fighting off illness. The strong and spicy flavor is said to stimulate digestion and metabolism, making fire cider a popular tonic for overall health and wellness.

Here's how to make it at home:

Ingredients:

1 cup of chopped onion

1 cup of chopped horseradish root

1 cup of chopped garlic

1 cup of grated ginger root

1 cup of grated turmeric root

1/2 cup of chopped jalapeño pepper (optional)

1/2 cup of chopped habanero pepper (optional)

1 cup of raw apple cider vinegar

1 cup of raw honey

Lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the chopped ingredients, including onion, horseradish root, garlic, ginger root, turmeric root, and peppers (if using).

Pour the apple cider vinegar over the ingredients and stir well.

Cover the mixture with a tight-fitting lid and store it in a cool, dark place for four to six weeks. Shake the mixture daily to help distribute the ingredients evenly.

After the four to six weeks, strain the mixture and pour the liquid into a clean glass jar.

Stir in the raw honey and lemon juice (if using) until dissolved.

Store the fire cider in the refrigerator and take a tablespoon as needed to support your immune system and combat cold and flu symptoms.

Note: You can adjust the recipe to your personal taste preferences by adjusting the amount of ginger, garlic, or honey used.
